Description
This year our middle and high school students can gain skills in creating handmade works of art as well as learning to brand, package and sell just like a Maker! This 14 week after school series will take students on an exploration of 3-4 different makers techniques allowing them to try, create and experiment with making their own handmade works. As the semester progresses students will begin to focus on one technique they liked the best to create “products” that they will make, build packaging and branding, getting their goods ready to sell. At the end of each semester the TR Makers Co will host a Makers Market put on by our Junior students for all After School Makers to participate in talking about and selling their work.
Guest artists and other Makers from the community will be invited to talk to the students throughout our semester. We want them to share how they use their techniques, their experiences in the arts world and even how they talk to prospective buyers. There is so much we can learn from others! Students will have new experiences each semester, so we invite them to join us in the fall and spring each year.
