Calling our most creative problem solvers, artists and entrepreneurs to a new year of Afterschool Makers and Afterschool Art School!
Afterschool Makers is an afterschool series that will take students on an exploration of 3-4 different makers techniques allowing them to try, create and experiment with making their own handmade works. As the semester progresses students will begin to focus on one technique they liked the best to create “products” that they will make, build packaging and branding, getting their goods ready to sell. At the end of each semester, the TR Makers Co will host a Makers Market for all our students at which point they will be introduced as Makers and gain the experience of talking to visitors and selling their work. Our spring 2024 unit will be “Textures and Tones” and will focus on techniques related to tin reliefs, paper toys and our rabbit hole community project.
Afterschool Art School is an afterschool series that will take students on an immersive journey into the creative world of fine art. During the semester students will develop their artistic abilities, employ creative thinking, and even learn the proper use and care of art materials. Our spring 2024 unit will be “Texture and Textile Painting” and will focus on the use of textile materials like yarn, string and wool to create and add to our paintings or woven works. Students will also learn basic correlating vocabulary words and helpful color theory tips to employ while creating.
Classes meet during the fall and spring semester. Each semester includes 14 weeks of 1 hr 30 min classes with a final Makers Market or portfolio showcase. Students can participate in a single semester or continue to build on their skills and join us each year. Our areas of study will be different each semester and each year.
Registration for Spring 2024 is happening now! Our spring semester begins January 16th and runs through April 24th. Registration will close for the spring semester on January 12th. Students wishing to participate in the spring semester after registration has closed should email Kristin LaRoy (trmakersco@gmail.com) for availability.
