Description

This year students will explore old masters and their famous works. We will learn the important role art has played throughout history as well as its current influence on our modern-day world. Just like many contemporary artists, you too can use techniques of the past to inspire your own artwork! During this 14-week afternoon class we will learn about art and artists from a variety of art eras and the significance of the artwork in history. Along with our historical artists we will study contemporary artists that use similar techniques and ideas in their work today. Through hands on projects and activities students will have the opportunity to employ what they learn about these old masters and new makers.

**Homeschool Families: This class can be paired with Afterschool Art School if your student is in grades 2nd through 6th (ages 7-12 or with approval from the director), which is also held on Wednesday’s throughout the semester. They are complementary classes to each other and your child would be able to enjoy both classes from 2:15p to 5:30p with a 15 minute snack break in between.**
