Ready to learn by making? TR Makers Co. is offering 14 newly-created Arts Lead Learning (ALL) half-day classes along with an art history semester-long program, Masters & Makers, during this 2024-2025 academic school year.
ALL half-day classes occur on select Fridays for students (ages 5-12). Taking on subjects like Life Science, Literature, Physics, Mathematics, and more, each class will include a multi-disciplinary approach to creative learning, utilizing techniques across multiple art forms such as painting, drawing, sculpture, architecture, literature, dance, drama, and music.
Additionally, our teachers use a variety of techniques during each lesson to help students of all learning styles to understand and comprehend each area of study. Lessons have been designed with specific age ranges and multiple ability levels in mind.
Throughout class students will use these art forms to help create two to three Makers projects that reflect the academic content studied, allowing students to create tangible reminders of the lessons they’ve learned. Each academic lesson includes two to three Makers projects as we allow the Arts to Lead our Learning process. We will use various hand-building and artisan techniques to create a finished project which relates to our area of study for that class. Once finished, students will have both a booklet completed during class and their final projects to help remind them of the lessons learned.
During our half-day classes, students are dropped off for in-studio participation. Come join us for a specific class or sign up for multiple classes!

How to Catch a Dinosaur a Paleontology Study
Ever wonder how a scientist can track a dinosaur through millions of years? Or what a paleontologist uses to hunt up bones? We’ll be exploring that and more in this exciting study and coming home with our own castings.
Rockin’ Out a Geology Study
Journey with us deep into the center of the earth to learn about the science of rocks. We’ll be learning about our planet’s layers and formations, as well as categorizing the information we “dig” up.
Hear Me Roar a Sound Waves and Physics Study
Time to learn about the science of noise! As it turns out, there’s a lot more to music than just melody and harmony. We will study sound waves and make our own musical instruments to try out too!
Walk Like An Egyptian a History and Archaeology Study
What is a stele? How is papyrus made? In this study, we’ll be investigating the world of ancient Egypt and learning about discoveries made using the science of archaeology. Come prepared to search for clues into the world of the ancient past!
Invisible Animals a Life Science Study
From butterflies with owl-shaped eyes to color-changing lizards, nature is full of animals who are experts at blending into the scenery. Let’s “see” how important this might be for species’ survival, as well as other ways animals adapt to their surroundings.
Making Light of Roy G. Biv a Science Study
Explore the visible light spectrum as we play with color, lights and shadows. In this class we will create a brilliant piece of shadow art, mix colors to create a dye bath for our fabric art piece and create our own version of the color wheel.
Pompeii a History and Science Study
Travel with us back in time to the days of the Roman Empire! In this study, we’ll be learning about the story of Pompeii and what happened on that early morning in 79 C.E. (hint: it involved a little mountain called Vesuvius). Science + History= a volcanic, dynamic study!
Earth Inside Out a Science Study
Go below the surface of the blue planet to learn about the layers that make up the ground beneath our feet. Together we will discover how volcanoes walk, earthquakes shake things up- even under the sea, and how the phrase “rock solid” is a bit misleading!
Sweet Honey Bees a Life Science Study
What’s the buzz about melittology? Join us as we get into the mind of a honeybee as they work, work, work! We’ll visit the hive, choreograph our very own honey dance, and work together. Students will print a honeycomb design and generally get a taste of the sweet life!
Polar Opposites a Science Study
Magnets are everywhere! In our cars, computers, and even jewelry. In this lesson we will explore the power of magnets to move and even levitate objects! We’ll make our own magnetic slime, design a magnetic pocket toy, and build a simple electromagnet.
