Afterschool Makers and Artists

Calling our most creative problem solvers, artists and entrepreneurs to a new year of Afterschool Makers and Makers Make Open Studio!

Afterschool Makers is an afterschool series that will take students on an exploration of 3-4 different makers techniques allowing them to try, create and experiment with making their own handmade works. As the semester progresses students will begin to focus on one technique they liked the best to create “products” that they will make, build packaging and branding, getting their goods ready to sell. At the end of each semester, the TR Makers Co will host a Makers Market for all our students at which point they will be introduced as Makers and gain the experience of talking to visitors and selling their work. 

Afterschool Makers is held in two semester long classes meeting in the fall and spring. Students attend class each Tuesday from 4p-5:30p with our final Makers Market to happen at the conclusion of each semester.

Makers Make Open Studio where creativity abounds! Join us this semester or just for a day and have fun with this creative experience where you will be given an artistic challenge each session. Challenges may include working with a variety of mediums, colors, textures, and found items. This time in the studio is great for creative exploration, trying new things, building confidence in your skills, gaining skills in project management and artful engineering. During an open studio session, participants will work independently while having the opportunity to bounce ideas and inspiration off other participants in the session. All participants will leave with the project they have been working on during that time.

This program can be attended for select weeks, or multiple weeks, you choose!

Open studio time for kids (ages 5-12) happen each Wednesday, 3:30p-5:00p, from August 21st through December 18th. 

Open studio time for teens and adults (ages 12 and up) happen each Thursday, 4:00p-5:30p, from August 22nd through December 19th.
