We will learn the important role art has played throughout history as well as its current influence on our modern-day world. Just like many contemporary artists\, you too can use techniques of the past to inspire your own artwork! During each 14-week semester-long class\, we will learn about art and artists from a variety of art eras and the significance of the artwork in history. Along with our historical artists\, we will study contemporary artists who use similar techniques and ideas in their work today. DESCRIPTION:This year students can gain skills in creating handmade works of art as well as learning to brand\, package and get their work ready to sell just like a Maker! This 14-week afterschool series will take students on an exploration of 3 different makers techniques allowing them to try\, create and experiment with making their own handmade works. As the semester progresses students will begin to focus on one technique they liked the best to create “products” that they will make\, build packaging and branding\, getting their goods ready to sell. At the end of each semester the TR Makers Co will host a Makers Market for all our students\, elementary and juniors\, at which point they will be introduced as Makers and gain the experience of talking to visitors and selling their work. \nRegistration for this class is done at the beginning of the semester.
